Arare, meaning "hail," are the crackers as small as bits of ice; the larger ones are called okaki: both are well-loved Japanese sweets of roasted or fried sticky rice. Azuma Arare Honpo carries over 50 varieties! The popular Hokusai Ippuku features packaging artwork by famed artist Hokusai, who produced many prints while based in the Ryogoku district. Cracker ingredients such as black sesame, seaweed, soy sauce, and glutinous rice are carefully selected.
