The approach to Shibamata's Taishakuten temple is a traditional Japanese streetscape. People in the area used to eat fish from the nearby Edogawa River, and even today, river-fish is the local specialty. Kawachiya, founded about 250 years ago, is famous for its eel and carp dishes.
